My New Years resolution was to attend workshops which will provide me with education and inspiration and I am pleased to report that I have managed to stick to my resolution for the first time in my life and I'm loving it!
By continuing education it ensures that as an investor I keep my finger firmly on the pulse. I have learnt new strategies which will ensure I can continue investing no matter what the market does, weather it is booming, sliding downwards or just taking a sideway step.
The first course I attended was a two day one in Taupo hosted by Dorien Forster. We learnt strategies for assisting vendors who are in serious financial trouble, and we learnt effective ways to manage and administrate rent to own concepts.
Both of these concepts in themselves are unique in so many ways and the part I love the most is that the methods are easily administrated and they provide a solution to financially stressed vendors and give helping hands to those wanting to own their own houses but currently aren’t able to. I look forward to applying my new methods in the months to come.
I am also currently studying the Real Estate Sales person course.

This is a two week starting at 9am and finishes at 1pm. The course is taken by a practicing agent who has about 20 years industry experience and along with that, many hilarious tales. Even though I have no intention of becoming a real estate agent I decided to take this course so that I had a better understanding of the legal side to real estate, along with some crafty clauses which I could add to my next purchasing contract. I do look forward to testing out my new skills on my very own pet agent very soon!
I feel that with the market starting to take a sideways step, the techniques I learn will allow me to make educated decisions relating to my investing. And even though I have been successful to some degree with my portfolio, having these skills will bring me through the next 5 years without too many grey hairs.
Some of the most successful investors I know attend the same courses I do, and that gives me peace, knowing that I am learning with the best in our industry.
I have also booked in to do two courses in April, and one in May. That should complete my curriculum for the year, and give me the tools to help me become a crafty investor.
